About Manuka Honey

Manuka Honey is generally used as a natural, therapeutic treatment internally and externally on the skin. It is also consumed as a tea or in a capsule as a health product.

Honey has been used by many different cultures throughout history. The Ancient Greeks and Egyptians used it as have many cultures over the ages. Even up to WW2 honey was being used for its antibacterial properties in treating wounds. Many of these uses are now being rediscovered by a modern world in light of new research into the properties and uses of Active Manuka Honey. Women around the world are now waking up to the powerful skin calming and anti-aging properties of Manuka Honey.

Where does Manuka Honey come from?

Manuka Honey is unique to New Zealand and contains non-peroxide antibacterial agents which can inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause slow healing wounds. Manuka Honey is produced by bees that gather pollen from the flowers of the Manuka tree, which is indigenous to New Zealand. The honey making process is enhanced and enriched by the pollution-free environment of New Zealand. This special type of medical grade honey has been found to have exceptionally powerful healing properties. It is only thanks to clinical research, principally in the last decade, that we are now able to explain many of the therapeutic effects of Manuka Honey when used for medical purposes

In laboratory tests, UMF Active Manuka Honey inhibited the growth of bacteria which causes many skin infections including antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria such as MRSA and VRE. Recent trials showed skin infections and wounds infected by Golden staph and other antibiotic resistant bacteria responded well to Active Manuka Honey dressings.
